April 10th, 2013 Comments off

Good morning GSLMUG’rs!  Hopefully we’ll see you at our meeting later this morning.  Our presentation is on WordPress.

I wanted to ask, did any of you have a chance to attend the COMMON conference this week?  If so, let us know what you learned from it this year.  I was able to go as a press member so I didn’t get to go to the classes themselves but in talking with some of the other attendees, there were lots of great sessions.  Let us know what you got out of it.

UIIPA › GSLMUG Meeting for April 10th

April 6th, 2013 Comments off

springFeverAlright! Winter is now over and it’s Spring Fever!

Time for the new, refreshing change of pace.  This Wednesday, April 10th, in the Murray City Auditorium at 11 am, we’ll be instructed by Ammon Lee, the webmaster for Alpine School District.

No matter what server a company is running for their business, these days they also need a web site.  The bigger the company, the more complex that becomes. Ammon manages a site with over 100 schools and departments that have content for the site.  He uses WordPress to accomplish that.

Here is his description of what he is going to be presenting:

Intro to WordPress

Learn about one of the most successful and used open source applications for building a website. In this presentation, we will cover many of the features that have made Wordpress such a popular platform for webpage creation and management. We will also be covering everything you need to set up your very own Wordpress installation, and build a very professional looking website with little to no coding experience in less than an hour. In addition, will discuss current ways people, companies, and public organizations are using Wordpress in various different types of applications.

Good new stuff!  Come and join us.
